The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) had instituted ICAI Awards in the year 2007 to honour and acknowledge the exemplary achievements of its Members who have attained exceptional levels of professional achievements in industry and business and are committed towards their goals.
ICAI continues its legacy to honour stellar individuals and organized 16th ICAI Awards on 10th January, 2023 at Hotel Taj Bengal, Kolkata. Shri C.V. Ananda Bose, Honâble Governor, West Bengal was the Chief Guest at the event. The Chartered Accountants who have excelled in their organization and have brought good name to the profession were honoured during the award ceremony.
The occasion was graced by the awardees and members of Governing Council of ICAI. The Honâble Governor, while giving away the awards, congratulated the awardees on their exemplary performance and also thanked the ICAI for recognising the achievers. The Honâble Governor said that it is the Transparency and Accountability which makes the CA profession a great profession. He also mentioned that Chartered Accountancy profession enjoys a very high reputation in the eyes of stakeholders.
While addressing the program, CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, President, ICAI and CA. Aniket S. Talati, Vice President, ICAI congratulated the Committee for organising the programme. They made a particular mention of high demand for Chartered Accountants in and outside the country.
The awards were given under various categories such as Business Leaders, CFOs, CXOs, Entrepreneurs, Global Achievers, Achiever in public service etc. CA. Sanjiv Mehta, CEO, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. was honoured with Hall of Fame Award. CA in Public Service Award was given to CA. Sandeep Kumar Sultania, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Government of Telangana. Several other CEOs, CFOs, CXO, Global Achiever, leading & rising Entrepreneurs, and Young Members were also honoured.
The Awards were finalised at a Jury Meet held under the Chairmanship of Shri Dilip Shanghvi, Managing Director, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. on 28th December, 2022 at Mumbai.
This year, 178 nominations were received from members and ultimately 20 persons were chosen for the Award. These awards are much awaited by the members in industry and business.
Earlier during the day, a Leadership Summit was organised wherein several notable personalities addressed the Chartered Accountants on varied subjects. CA. (Dr.) Debashis Mitra, President, ICAI and CA. Aniket S. Talati, Vice President, ICAI, addressed the gathering. The Summit provided a platform for thought-provoking discussions on pertinent topics relevant to the CA Profession in which industry experts, thought leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals participated. Various eminent speakers participated in Panel discussions on âSustainability & Scalabilityâ, âDigital Transformationâ and âFuture of Financeâ.
