The Maharashtra Government last week notified that no E-Way Bill shall be required to be generated for the intra-State movement in the State of Maharashtra, in respect of the goods valuing below Rs. 1 lakh or for goods transported for Hank, Yarn, Fabric and Garments of any value a distance of upto fifty kilometers within the State of Maharashtra for the purpose of job work as defined in sub-section (68) of section 2 of the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
The revised limit is applicable for goods transported within the State on or before 1st July 2018.
Maharashtra implemented the provisions of the E-Way Bill for intra-State movement of goods from 25th May 2018. Earlier, the limit for E-Way Bill was Rs. 50,000 for both the inter-State and Intra-State Supplies.
Under GST rules, ferrying goods worth more than Rs 50,000 within or outside a state will require securing an electronic-way or e-way bill through prior online registration of the consignment.
In the 26th meeting, the GST Council has recommended the introduction of the E-Way Bill for inter-State movement of goods across the country from 01st April 2018.
Till July, around 11 crores E-Way Bills haven generated in the country, the GSTN, a company providing technical backbone to the new tax regime said in a statement Today.
