Taxpayers can now file complaints related to Goods and Services Tax ( GST ) on the GST Grievance Redressal Portal, according to the Ministry of Finance. The portal provides taxpayers with assistance on GST registration, return filing, refunds, and payments. The portal also allows taxpayers to report issues such as fake GST invoices.
To report a GST-related issue, individuals must follow a few simple steps.
Firstly, they must head to the GST portal and click on the āhelp and taxpayer facilitiesā head.
Next, they must scroll down to select āgrievance redressal portalā.

They must then click proceed, followed by āreport issueā.
Then, enter the key word of your issue that you are facing e.g. “GSTR 1” or “PAYMENTS” or “GSTR 3-B” and select appropriate Issue/Concern.
After entering the relevant details, they can register their complaint.
For further assistance, stakeholders can also call the toll-free number 1800-103-4786.
Once the complaint is registered, an acknowledgment with a Ticket Reference Number (TRN) will be generated. Taxpayers can use the TRN to track the status of their complaint on the same portal through the ācheck statusā menu.
This new portal has been introduced to make it easier for taxpayers to file GST-related complaints and receive prompt assistance. Previously, taxpayers had to visit their local GST office to file a complaint, which could be a time-consuming and arduous process.
The stakeholders can lodge a Complaint here indicating issues or problems faced by them while working on the GST portal instead of sending emails to the Helpdesk. It has been designed in a manner that the user can explain issues faced and upload screenshots of pages where they faced the problem, for quick redressal of grievances.
The Grievance Redressal Portal has the following advantages:
Enable the user to lodge his complaint and raise tickets himself.
To provide all required information and reduce communication between helpdesk and the taxpayers, helping to reach a faster resolution.
Enable the taxpayer to check the progress of resolution of his complaint by using the ticket number (acknowledgement number generated after a complaint is lodged).
Check the resolution comments in case the complaint/ticket is closed.
Based on selection of category/subject and sub-category, the portal provides relevant FAQ/pages of User manual to help the user resolve the problem faced by him.
Overall, the GST Grievance Redressal Portal is a welcome addition for taxpayers, providing them with an easy and efficient way to file complaints and seek assistance on GST-related matters. It is hoped that the portal will help to streamline the process of addressing complaints and contribute to a more efficient and transparent tax system.
