The Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, is currently hosting the largest Geographical Indication (GI) Pavilion at the India International Trade Fair at ITPO, Pragati Maidan, till 27th November 2023. The Pavilion was inaugurated on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas by the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Shri Som Parkash, laying the red carpet for public viewing.

Featuring more than 600 artisans from 28 States and Union Territories, the GI Pavilion showcases over 200 unique Geographical Indications products, spanning Agriculture, Food, Handicrafts, and Handloom, appealing to a diverse audience. These GI products possess distinct characteristics and qualities attributed to their geographical origins.

The Pavilion spotlights artisans from different tribes and women entrepreneurs, placing them at the forefront to showcase their craft. The enthusiastic participation of artisans has transformed the GI Pavilion into a vibrant hub for cultural exchange and business opportunities.

Live demonstrations of traditional artworks such as Gond Painting, Warli Painting, Pithora Painting, Shamphee Lanphee, Sandur Lambani Embroidery, and Odisha Pattachitra, conducted by Padma Shri and National awardees, offer visitors a firsthand experience of India’s rich traditional and cultural heritage.

To engage young participants, the pavilion includes a Kids Play Zone featuring a combination of physical and digital activities, enhancing the overall experience for visitors of all ages.
