The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) held a press conference on Thursday in Ahmedabad, shedding light on the upcoming Global Professional Accountants Convention (GloPAC) scheduled from November 24th to 26th, 2023.
Themed “Connecting the Globe, Creating Value,” the convention will take place at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.
The press conference, attended by key figures including CA. Aniket Sunil Talati (President, ICAI), CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal (Vice-President, ICAI), CA. (Dr.) Sanjeev Kumar Singhal (Chairman, Public Relations Committee, ICAI), and CA. (Dr.) Anjali Choksi (Chairperson, Ahmedabad Branch of ICAI), provided a glimpse into the significance of GloPAC.
The inaugural ceremony will be graced by Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Hon’ble Vice-President of India, as Chief Guest, and CA. Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, as the Guest of Honour. Other dignitaries include Ms. Anuradha Thakur (Additional Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs), Mr. K Rajaraman (Chairperson, International Financial Services Centres Authority), and Shri Tapan Ray (MD and CEO, GIFT Co. Ltd).
GloPAC is set to host over 4000 delegates from 25 countries, featuring 30+ insightful sessions. Renowned speakers such as Shri Praful Pansheriya, Mr. Debashis Panda, Ms. Asmaa Resmouki, CA. Ram Mohan Johri, and CA. Nilesh Shah will address the event.
President CA. Aniket Sunil Talati expressed, “In the spirit of global collaboration, ICAI embarks on a historic journey with the first-ever GloPAC event, a testament to our commitment to excellence in the accounting profession. The conference will delve upon the discussion shaping the future of the accountancy profession. Together, we illuminate the path toward a globally revered accountancy profession and a sustainable future.” He also highlighted ICAI’s recognition with the ISAR Honours 2023 by UNCTAD for the Sustainability Reporting Standards Board (SRSB) initiative.
Vice-President CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal emphasized that GloPAC aims to unite thought leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, serving as a premier platform for in-depth discussions on contemporary issues in the accountancy profession.
Notably, during GloPAC, ICAI is set to sign significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) and Gujarat International Finance Tec (GIFT) City, further solidifying its commitment to global collaboration and excellence in the accounting profession.
