The Directorate of Enforcement ( ED ) is investigating ‘Parava Films’, the producers of ‘Manjummel Boys’. The Enforcement Directorate will investigate whether Parava Films has carried out black money transactions.
The ED will question actor Soubin Shahir and others in this connection. Last week, notices were issued to producers Soubin Shahir, his father Babu Shahir and Shaun Antony to appear for questioning.
ED questioned producer Shaun Antony Earlier, as there was also a case against Parava Films for allegedly committing financial fraud by promising the film’s dividend.
The Maradu police, which investigated the case, had submitted a report in the High Court alleging that the producers had committed fraud in the case filed by Siraj Valiyathara Hameed, a native of Aroor, alleging that he was cheated after promising 40 per cent dividend if he spent Rs 7 crore on the film.
The situation for the film’s makers is critical. Their lawyer has abandoned the case, and their request for anticipatory bail has been postponed until June 12th. This is their last chance, according to a stern warning from Justice C S Dias.
Previously, the High Court had put a hold on their arrest in connection with the fraud case.
Following this, the ED’s investigation,the controversy related to Manjummal Boys came to light after the ED had earlier conducted raids on production companies and others associated with the film industry in connection with the black money transactions.
The case was registered on the directions of Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on the complaint of Siraj Hameed. The anticipatory bail plea of the accused is currently pending in the high court. According to the allegations and report submitted by the police in the court, the producers deliberately cheated Siraj.
