The Goods and Services Tax Network ( GSTN ) has announced a significant change to the document upload size limits for the Principal Place of Business and Additional Place of Business sections in the New Goods and Services Tax ( GST ) Registration and Amendment processes in the Goods and Services Tax Portal.
This enhancement addresses long standing grievances from the trade community regarding the previous size constraints, causing rejection of Goods and Services Tax (GST) registration and amendment applications and inability to upload a readable copy of the requisite documents.
Taxpayers can now upload the following documents with a maximum size of 500 KB in both the Principal Place of Business and Additional Places of Business tabs:
Earlier, the document size limit used to be 100 KB which has been increased to 500KB now for Municipal Khata Copy, Electricity Bill, Consent Letter and Property Tax Receipts. The same can be uploaded as JPEG/PDF for Proof of Principal Place of Business and Additional Place of Business.
This change is expected to simplify the registration and amendment processes, making it easier for taxpayers to comply with the requirements.
