Karnataka CA Association Raises 11 Income Tax Portal Glitches before CBDT, Submits Representation

The CA association has listed 11 income tax portal glitches giving trouble to the taxpayers and professionals. The deadline for filing the return is July 31st 2024.

The income tax portal issues are giving a lot of trouble to the tax taxpayers, CAs and tax filers as the due date for filing Income Tax Returns ( ITR ) is nearing.  Concerning the same, the Karnataka State Chartered Accountants Association ( KCCA ) has raised 11 income tax portal glitches before the Central Board of direct Taxes ( CBDT ). The CA association has submitted a representation to the CBDT chairman.

The 11 challenges listed by the CA association in the income tax portal by the income tax payers, CA are:

  1. Intermittent difficulty in logging into the Income tax portal
  2. Failure to download 26AS, AIS and TIS from the Income tax Portal
  3. Discrepancy in Pre-filled Data
  4. Restricted options to submit responses in AIS and TIS in the Income tax portal
  5. Difficulty in resetting Password
  6. Difficulty in generating challan for payment of tax
  7. Error Messages popping up during submission of return for filing
  8. Difficulty in filing the return of Income
  9. Difficulty in e-verifying the return of Income that has been fixed
  10. Generation of multiple OTPs
  11. Difficulty in downloading the ITR receipt

The CA association has listed the portal glitches commonly faced by all the filers. In the representation, the association has stated that the taxpayers and professionals are facing a lot of burden and stress to file the ITR on time, as the due date for filing of return of income is approaching. Earlier, ICAI also wrote representation with regards to the portal glitches.

The Karnataka CA Association consistently advocates for the challenges faced by the Chartered Accountant community before the relevant authorities. In the past, they have submitted representations to the government regarding issues with the income tax portal, deadlines, and other related matters.
