In a significant move towards enhancing investor engagement and protection, the Securities and Exchange Board of India ( SEBI ) has introduced “SEVA,” its pioneering Virtual Assistant. Designed as an Artificial Intelligence ( AI ) powered chatbot, SEVA aims to cater to investor queries with unprecedented efficiency and accessibility.
The beta version of SEVA boasts several advanced features, including real-time citations for generated responses, speech-to-text and text-to-speech functionalities for enhanced accessibility, and the capability to handle follow-up questions seamlessly. Initially, SEVA will provide information on general aspects of the securities market, the latest master circulars, and guidelines for grievance redressal.
SEBI officials emphasized that SEVA’s functionality will expand based on user feedback, promising future updates to encompass broader areas of investor interest. Currently, investors can access SEVA through SEBI’s investor website (https://investor.sebi.gov.in/) and the SAARTHI mobile app, available for both Android (link) and iOS (link) platforms.
The launch of SEVA marks a pivotal step towards leveraging AI to provide timely, accurate, and user-friendly assistance to investors navigating India’s dynamic securities landscape. As SEBI continues to innovate in investor protection, SEVA stands poised to become an indispensable tool for stakeholders seeking reliable guidance in financial markets.
