The CBI registered the case based on credible information that the Principal Commissioner was abusing his official position to demand and accept bribes in exchange for providing undue benefits to certain taxpayers. It is alleged that several intermediaries acted on behalf of the Principal Commissioner to facilitate the illegal transactions.
In connection with the case, the CBI has launched extensive searches across 21 locations in Patna, Dhanbad, and Noida (U.P). These searches have led to the recovery of incriminating documents and other items, further supporting the allegations against the accused.
