Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority ( IEPFA ) by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs ( MCA ).
The central government issued an official notification, published in the Gazette of India, confirming her appointment. According to the notice, Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee will assume her duties as Chairperson from the date she takes office.
She will serve in an ex officio capacity, meaning she holds authority by virtue of her position in the government. Her appointment replaces the previous listing for the Chairperson, with Mukerjee’s name now included under serial number 1.
Her appointment is made under the powers conferred by sub-sections (5) and (6) of Section 125 of the Companies Act, 2013, and in compliance with rules 5 and 7 of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (Appointment of Chairperson and Members, holding of meetings, and provision for offices and officers) Rules, 2016.

The IEPFA was established to enhance investor education and protection, particularly concerning unclaimed dividends and other uncollected investor funds. The authority is also responsible for ensuring that unclaimed funds are either returned to the rightful investors or appropriately managed.
In August 2024, Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee was appointed as Secretary to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, succeeding Manoj Govil, who became the Expenditure Secretary. Prior to her current appointment, Mukerjee served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Authority. A 1993 batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, she brings extensive administrative experience and leadership to her new role as Chairperson of the IEPFA.
