The Director-General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Amit Yadav on Tuesday amended the Export Policy of Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs) or Masks such as Medical Coveralls; Medical Goggles; Ply Surgical Masks; Nitrile/NBR Gloves and Face Shields.
The DGFT vide Notification No. 21/2015-20 dated July 28, 2020, which further amends the Export Policy of Personal Protective Equipment/Mask. The following amendments made in Notification No. 20 dated July 21, 2020, read with Notification No. 16 dated June 29, 2020, amending Schedule 2 of the ITC (HS) Export Policy 2018 related to the export of Personal Protection Equipments/Masks, incorporating earlier amendments.
The Notification No. 20 dated July 21, 2020, read with Notification No. 16 dated June 29, 2020 is amended to the extent that the export policy of 2/3 Ply Surgical masks, Medical Goggles is amended from “Prohibited” to “Restricted” category and export of Face Shields has been made “free”.
“A monthly export quota of 4 crore units per month has been fixed for 2/3 Ply Surgical masks and 20 lakh units per month for Medical Goggles for issuing export licenses to eligible applicants as per the criteria to be separately issued in a Trade Notice,” the notification said.
The policy condition of Medical Coveralls such as Surgical drapes, isolation aprons, surgical wraps, and X-ray gowns are freely exportable. However, from now on the export policy is prohibited.
The policy condition of medical Coveralls for COVID-19 is that the monthly export quota of 50 Lakh units of Medical Coveralls for COVID-19. However, from now on the export policy is restricted.
The policy condition of medical Goggles is that the monthly export quota of 20 Lakh units of Medical Goggles. However, from now on the export policy is restricted.
The policy condition of all masks other than Non-Medical/non-surgical masks (cotton, silk, wool, polyester, Nylon, Rayon, Viscose-Knitted, Woven, or Blended) are allowed freely for export. However, from now on the export policy is prohibited.
The policy condition of 2/3 Ply Surgical Masks is that the Monthly Export Quota of 4 Crore 2/3 Ply surgical masks. However, from now on the export policy is prohibited.
The export policy Face Shields are freely exportable.
