At present 39 Debt Recovery Tribunals (DRT) are functioning in the country.
Government had decided to open six new DRT at Ernakulam (Kerala), Bengaluru (Karnataka), Hyderabad (Telangana), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Chandigarh (UT) and Siliguri (West Bengal). All these DRTs have already been established and started functioning in the financial year 2016-17.
This was stated by Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Finance in written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
