The Amazon has invited application for the post of Tax Analyst II – SALT – Audit from Chartered Accountant, CPA or Enrolled Agent certification.
The Amazon Tax Department is a fast-paced, team-focused, and dynamic environment. This position will be responsible for supporting the audit defence function of certain US state and local non-income tax filings, as well as other tax projects. This position will execute tasks and projects with limited direction. The candidate will begin to understand rules around their assigned tax types and jurisdictions. This position may manage direct reports.
State and Local Indirect Tax Responsibilities may include:
· Manage certain indirect tax team members and mentor each to ensure individual, team, department and company success
· Support internal reviews and external state and local tax audits of indirect tax filings for certain Amazon subsidiaries including but not limited to Sales Tax, Use Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, WA Business & Occupation Tax, and Regulatory Fees
· Prepare and review the reconciliation of certain transaction tax general ledger accounts
· Support the credits and incentives compliance processes associated with indirect taxes
· Drive process improvement and automation and technology implementation
· Advise on the development and maintenance of accounting systems which provide the information required to be reported
· Research and document state and local tax issues and positions
· Provide guidance to any internal/external party based on the research of state and local tax laws, regulations and case law
· Assist with special tax projects on an as-needed basis as part of growth and development
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
· 2+ years of state and local indirect tax experience
· Minimum 1-year multistate indirect tax experience in Public Accounting or industry
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Master’s Degree preferred
· Chartered Accountant, CPA or Enrolled Agent certification
· Self-starter with ability to prioritize tasks and independently define, implement, and manage the creation of new processes
· Strong computer skills including MS Office, Oracle
· Strong project management and organization skills
· Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
· Technically proficient with strong accounting, analytical, financial modelling and research skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Master’s Degree preferred
