The Ministry of Tourism in Bahrain recently introduced a tourist tax applicable to hotel accommodations across the kingdom. Starting from May 1, 2024, a fee of three Bahraini dinars (equivalent to approximately Dh30) will be imposed per room per day.

This decision has been communicated to tourist agencies and airlines within Bahrain and internationally, with instructions to include the tax in the room rates for tourists visiting the country.

The purpose of this measure is to standardize additional costs related to hotel stays and enhance transparency for visitors planning trips to Bahrain.

The Ministry of Tourism anticipates that this new tax will contribute significantly to revenue, potentially increasing the state budget by up to three million dinars annually, assuming a hotel room occupancy rate of 40% per year.
