The Ministry of Finance commenced the final stage of preparations for the Union Budget 2024-25 with the customary Halwa ceremony held today in New Delhi. The event was held in the presence of Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary.
The Halwa ceremony, an annual tradition, signifies the start of the ‘lock-in’ process for officials involved in the Budget preparation. The Union Budget 2024-25 is scheduled to be presented on 23rd July 2024.
In addition to the ceremonial activities, it was announced that all Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement ( commonly referred to as the Budget ), Demand for Grants ( DG ), and the Finance Bill, will be accessible via the “Union Budget Mobile App.”
This app provides easy access to Budget documents for Members of Parliament ( MPs ) and the general public, offering a simple and convenient digital solution.
The app supports both English and Hindi and will be available on Android and iOS platforms. It can also be downloaded from the Union Budget Web Portal at [www.indiabudget.gov.in](www.indiabudget.gov.in).
The Budget documents will be accessible on the Mobile App after the Union Finance Minister concludes the Budget Speech in Parliament on 23rd July 2024.
During the Halwa ceremony, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman was accompanied by the Secretaries of the Ministry of Finance and other senior government officials involved in the Budget preparation. The Finance Minister also toured the Budget Press, reviewed the ongoing preparations, and extended her best wishes to all the officials.
