Budget 2024: ‘Union Budget Mobile App’ offers Seamless Document Access to MPs and Public; Know how

The final preparations for the Interim Budget 2024 are underway, with the scheduled presentation on February 1st, 2024, by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. A significant stride towards improved accessibility and transparency was witnessed in Budget 2022-23, introducing the ‘Union Budget Mobile App’. This innovative application is specifically crafted to facilitate access to vital documents for both Members of Parliament ( MPs ) and the general public.

In 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the inaugural paperless budget. Subsequently, in the following year, the Union Budget Mobile App was introduced. The app was designed and developed by NIC.

Previously, the public had to navigate the official website to find budget documents and speeches, a process unfamiliar to many. Now, with the mobile app, the public can effortlessly access and download these documents. The Ministry of Finance has conveyed that, similar to the preceding three complete Union Budgets, the Interim Union Budget for 2024 will also be presented in a paperless format.

How to Install Union Budget Mobile App

1. Go to your Play Store, if you are using an Android phone or App store, if you are using an Apple Phone.
2. Search ‘Union Budget Mobile App’
3. Install the application
4. Open the app and click on the tab which you want.

Eg: If you want Budget Speech, then click on Budget speech and you can view the document.

5. There is a ‘downward arrow’ in the right hand side where you can download the documents.
6. You can change the language also.

Upon opening the application, accessing its main page is a straightforward process. Currently, there is no requirement for signing up to use the app.
