Saying “Hain nahi 2 Lakh Rupaye Mere Pas”, he even took off his shoes before sitting in meditation in front of the officials. Jain claimed that his vehicle transporting iron from Meerut was stopped by the GST authorities despite him paying all applicable taxes. He alleged that the officials only released the vehicle after imposing an unjustified fine, leading him to take such drastic action.
The businessman also claimed that he did not have the money that the officials were allegedly demanding as a bribe and told them to send him to jail instead. During the one-manned protest against bribery, several onlookers in the office recorded the incident, which has since gone viral on various social media platforms. People can be heard murmuring and some individuals can be seen trying to reason with Jain as he sits calmly in meditation.
The video has sparked significant debate online, with many users questioning the integrity of the GST department and raising concerns over the alleged harassment of taxpayers. One social media user commented, “People are being harassed a lot like this, and the government is saying that corruption is over.”
