In a recent incident, a gang of burglars targeted the office of Vinay Sharda, a prominent financial consultant in Bag Sewania. Mr. Sharda’s son, who is a chartered accountant, operates his practice near their residence in Vidya Nagar. The burglary took place sometime after Mr. Sharda closed the office around 10 pm on Wednesday and returned home.
Upon arriving at the office the following morning, Mr. Sharda discovered a broken lock and scattered belongings, indicating a break-in. Investigations revealed that Rs 10,000 in cash, six silver coins, and various other items stored in a drawer were missing.
CCTV footage reviewed by authorities revealed the presence of four individuals associated with the notorious “Chaddi-Baniyan” gang entering the premises during the night. Police have initiated a case against the unidentified perpetrators, launching a thorough investigation into the matter.
The cases where Chartered Accountants are being targets of financial crimes are spiking unusually. Recently, A Chartered Accountant was kidnapped by his driver and the accomplices. The kidnappers extorted Rs. 60 lakhs. The accountant hailed from Kandivali, filed a police complaint in the at Samta Nagar police station.

In a troubling incident, a Chartered Accountant ( CA ) residing in Vile-Parle East, Mumbai, fell victim to a sophisticated cyber scam, losing a hefty sum of ₹34.70 lakh. The fraudsters, pretending to be connected to the well-known money laundering case involving Jet Airways’ founder Naresh Goyal, tricked the CA into believing that her bank account and phone number were linked to illegal activities.
