CBI calls for Law Interns: All You Need to Know and How to Apply for Internship

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has advertised its Law Internship Scheme-2023 to engage 30 law interns from amongst Indian nationals. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for law students enrolled in reputed Law University/Institutes to gain valuable experience by working closely with CBI officers in various locations across the country. Under this scheme, the selected interns will be attached to Central Bureau of Investigation officers in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Bangalore. Their primary role will be to support the analysis process within the Agency by collecting and collating empirical data and other relevant information. Additionally, the interns will have the chance to enhance their legal knowledge and research skills while gaining exposure to the functioning of the esteemed CBI, which will undoubtedly benefit their future career goals. The CBI has set a total of 30 internship positions, with six interns assigned to each of the aforementioned locations. To be eligible for the scheme, applicants must be Indian citizens and law students enrolled in a Graduate course conducted in English medium at reputed Law University/Institutes. For those pursuing a five-year integrated LLB course, they should be in or have completed the eighth semester. Similarly, for those pursuing a three-year LLB course, they should be in or have completed the fourth semester. The internship comes with certain conditions. First, interns will not receive any payment during their tenure and will be responsible for their own accommodation and travel arrangements. The CBI will not be liable for providing medical or any other facilities to the interns. It's important to note that completion of the internship does not guarantee future employment within the CBI. However, the interns will gain valuable practical exposure to investigation and prosecution work, including assisting CBI law officers and investigating officers in various tasks such as researching court judgments, preparing court applications and replies, presenting evidence/documents, examining witnesses in court, trial work, pairvi work, data collection, and any other assignments delegated by senior officers. Selected interns will be required to sign an "Oath of Secrecy" at the commencement of their internship, binding them to maintain confidentiality even beyond the duration of their internship. The internship duration will span from three to six months, allowing interns to immerse themselves in the CBI's operations and gain comprehensive insights into the field. Here’s how to apply: Interested candidates are required to submit their applications in the prescribed proforma (Annexure-A) of the notification along with a 150-word write-up explaining their motivation to join the internship in CBI. The applications should be sent via Speed Post to the Superintendent of Police (Training), CBI Academy, Hapur Road, Kamla Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh – 201002. The deadline for submitting applications is 30th May 2023. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. N.B: Application should be filled by typing in the Proforma only; no other format will be accepted.
