The Central Government is preparing to introduce a mobile application named ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ for both iOS and Android platforms, as part of the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar Scheme’. A notable aspect of this program is that individuals who upload Goods and Services Tax (GST) invoices could potentially receive cash prizes ranging from Rs. 10 lakhs to Rs. 1 crore through a lucky draw.
Under the Invoice Incentivisation Scheme, those who upload their GST invoices through the app will be eligible to receive cash rewards of up to 1 crore either on a monthly or quarterly basis. The uploaded invoice on the app needs to include the seller’s GSTIN, invoice number, paid amount, and applicable tax stated the officials.
The officials further emphasized that individuals are allowed to upload a maximum of 25 invoices each month, with each invoice needing to have a minimum purchase value of Rs. 200. By participating in the monthly 500 lucky draw, individuals have the opportunity to win cash prizes amounting to several lakhs of rupees. Additionally, two lucky draws will take place every quarter, with the prize amount reaching up to 1 crore rupees.
In collaboration with its application partner (M/s e-connect Solutions Pvt. Ltd.), GSTN is in the process of creating a technological platform. This platform is designed to facilitate citizens in registering and uploading invoices through a user-friendly mobile application and web portal.
The advanced technology will empower this mobile application and portal to automatically extract essential information from printed invoices, including GSTIN, invoice number, payment amount, and tax sum.
The scheme will be launched as soon as possible. It would serve multiple objectives of incentivising and rewarding compliant behaviour by the consumers, encouraging tax compliant businesses, boosting consumer spending, and, checking tax evasion.
