The Institute of Company Secretaries of India ( ICSI ) has informed that the students registered with the Institute shall undergo one-day mandatory orientation program for the foundation and executive students immediately after their registration.
The decision was taken by the Council at its meeting held on 16th March 2019.
“The Council approved to conduct a one-day orientation program for the foundation and executive students immediately after their registration in the Institute. The objective of the One-day orientation programme is to sensitize the newly admitted students regarding their course curriculum, study schemes, examination pattern and training structure. Through the orientation programme, students will also be made to understand the scope and opportunities of the CS profession and they will be sensitive for their career as a CS. Further, the Contact programme will also increase connectivity between the Institute and the Students,” the ICSI said in a statement.
A similar initiative was taken by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) where the Institute had amended its guidelines imposing a condition on the Cost Accountants to undergo a six-day training before issuing or renewing the certificate of practice. Later, it was further amended and said that no such mandatory training to be attended by the cost accountants to renew the certificate of practice.
