In connection to the Mahadev Betting App case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has formally summoned Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor. This legal action signifies that the ED is requesting Mr. Kapoor’s presence and cooperation in their ongoing investigation into the matter. The authorities are in the process of determining the timeline of when the actor commenced promoting the app and began receiving payment for his involvement.
According to sources cited in an ANI report, it has been alleged that Kapoor was involved in promotional activities related to the betting app in dispute. Consequently, he has been instructed to make an appearance at the Enforcement Directorate’s office located in Raipur on October 6.

As per sources cited by PTI, numerous other high-profile celebrities, as well as certain sports personalities, were also involved in promoting the app. These individuals may be called in for questioning by the authorities at a later point in time. This information suggests that the investigation into the promotion of the app involves a broader group of public figures, and the possibility of additional summonses for them remains open.
Subsequent to the 28% GST on online gaming, the GST authorities have issued demand notices to many gaming and betting apps including Gameskraft, Dream11..etc. All these gaming and betting apps are promoted by many A-listed celebrities.
