According to sources, the law ministry has approved the new syllabus proposed by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the Chartered Accountancy – CA Foundation, CA Intermediate and CA Final.
The new proposed syllabus, according to the former president of the ICAI, placed a strong emphasis on technology. The suggested syllabus also incorporated technological updates which aids the students to enhance their capability.
In accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020, the new syllabus includes the subjects of Constitution of India and the art of advocacy, philosophy, psychology..etc.
The new syllabus is formulated in compliance with International Education Standards (IESS) and National Education Policy (NEP)-2020. In accordance with the sources, the new proposed scheme of syllabus aims to build ‘Global Ready’ professionals and it includes:
Entry through Foundation and Direct Entry routes
Mix of descriptive and objective assessment
Technical competencies covered
Quality academic education
Practical training of 2 years
Ethics integrated in final 2 papers
Two-level Integrated soft skills and Information Technology training
Skill based assessments – Foundation, Intermediate, Self-paced online modules and Final
Multi-disciplinary case study paper
The new curriculum’s main aim is to improve learning methodologies, cogent and comprehensive skill assessments, and multidisciplinary approach. Additionally, it aids in the efficient and concentrated practical training.
The CA – Foundation exam was scheduled in the month of December 2023 in the existing syllabus. Although the ministry’s approval of the syllabus, the ICAI has not yet specified how soon it will come into force.
