Govt amends Export Duty on Specified Varieties of Rice with Immediate effect [Read Notification]

The Government of India has recently amended the export duty on specified varieties of rice, with immediate effect, under the Customs Act, 1962. Exercising its powers under sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Act, the Central Government has issued changes to the previous Notification No. 27/2011-Customs, dated March 1, 2011.

These changes are aimed at safeguarding public interest and regulating the export market of rice, which plays a key role in domestic food security and international trade. The amendment to this notification will impact the export duty on specific varieties of rice.

In the said notification, 27/2011-Customs, dated March 1, 2011 in the TABLE,

(i) after S. No. 6, the following serial numbers and entries shall be inserted, namely:-

(1)(2)(3)(4)
ā€œ6A1006 10 90Rice in the husk ( paddy or rough )10%
6B1006 20 00Husked ( brown ) rice10%
6B1006 30 10Rice, parboiled10%ā€

(ii) after S. No. 7, the following serial number and entries shall be inserted, namely:-

ā€œ7A1006 30 90Semi-milled or wholly-milled rice, whether or not polished or glazed ( other than Parboiled rice and Basmati rice )Nilā€
