The Goods and Services Tax Act (GST), the much awaited indirect tax reform in the history of India is going to be implemented from July 1st, 21017. To welcome the reform, the apex body of indirect taxes, Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) is planning to conduct a series of meetings and functions in all parts of the Country.
As part of celebrations, the Government declared 1st July as “GST Day”.
A communication issued by the department of revenue, Union finance ministry has stated that the GST Day will be celebrated across all field offices of Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), in the same manner as that International Customs Day or Central Excise Day is celebrated.
As a trade facilitation measure, all CBEC offices will remain open on July 1, thus enabling the availability of staff and officers for the benefit of trade and industry. A series of meetings as well as functions will mark celebrations through the day in Gujarat with participation of state GST officials.
It was also stated that on the night of 30th June 2017 as well as on 1st July 2017, the field Officers may be suitably will be illuminated with law key lighting to mark the occasion of launch of GST.
