A Writ Petition has been filed by the All Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultants before the Gujarat High Court for extension of the due date for filing Tax Audit Report under section 44AB and ITRs for AY 2018- 19.
The matter was heard today by the bench comprising Justice Akil Kureshi and Justice B N Karia.
Before the bench, the petitioners, All Gujarat Federation of Tax Consultants and Satyapal Karamchand Sadhwani urged that the due date for the submission of tax audit report may be extended.
Advocate B S Soparkar appeared for the petitioners.
According to sources, the bench asked the departmental counsel, Advocate Mauna Bhatt to see to it that the genuine taxpayers do not face difficulties, she was asked to take instructions from the department if the extension can be granted in this matter, to which the counsel replied that some instructions are expected today.
As the due date for submitting tax audit report and income tax returns for business classes ends on 30th September 2018, the Chartered Accountants all over India is requesting the Government to extend the tax audit due date for the current assessment year.
The auditors and tax professionals, who are under pressure to achieve the deadline due to over work burden, have even started a campaign in the social media with a hashtag #ExtendAuditDueDate requesting an extension from the Government.
