The Delhi High Court will be hearing a petition today to postpone the upcoming Chartered Accountant ( CA ) Intermediate and Final exams scheduled for May 2024.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) had already rescheduled the exams due to the Lok Sabha elections. However, some CA aspirants are still unhappy with the new dates and have filed a petition seeking further changes.
Original Schedule: Exams were planned for May 2nd week ( around May 6th to 13th ).
Revised Schedule: Due to elections, ICAI rescheduled exams to May 3rd to 17th. Group 1 exams are on May 3, 5, 9, Group 2 exams are on May 11, 15, 17 ( for both CA Inter and Final )
CA aspirants want the court to further postpone these exams and the High Court’s decision will be crucial for students appearing for the CA exams in May 2024.
On a related note, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) might soon offer CA exams three times a year instead of the current two attempts ( June & December ). This would give students an extra chance to pass the exams.
