The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI ) has issued a corrigendum to its 75th Annual Accounts following the discovery of a typographical error in the English version of the document published in the Gazette of India on September 27, 2024.
The error pertains to the date beneath the names of the auditors, which was incorrectly printed as “17th September 2023” instead of the correct date, “17th September 2024.”

In an official statement released today, the ICAI clarified that the mistake appeared on pages 362 to 365 and page 389 of the English version of the Annual Accounts. “The date appearing beneath the names of the Auditors should read as 17th September 2024 instead of 17th September 2023. Necessary corrigendum is being published in the Official Gazette of India in this regard,” the statement read.
The Hindi version of the Annual Accounts correctly reflected the date as “17th September 2024.” The ICAI attributed the discrepancy to an inadvertent error that occurred while sending the material for publication in the Gazette Notification. “While sending the matter for publication, this error of date in the English version has crept in inadvertently,” the Institute noted as an ICAI Spokesperson promptly responded that, “this is just a typo error in printing as if you see in Hindi version it’s correct”.

CA. ( Dr. ) Jai Kumar Batra, Secretary of the ICAI, in the signed statement stated that the Annual Accounts were indeed signed by the Statutory Auditors on September 17, 2024, and the correct date was mentioned at the time of signing. “It is further clarified that the Annual Accounts of the Institute were signed by the Statutory Auditors on 17th September 2024 mentioning the same date there,” he stated.
The ICAI is taking prompt action to rectify the mistake by publishing a corrigendum in the Official Gazette of India. This step ensures that all official records accurately reflect the correct information, maintaining the integrity and transparency expected from the apex accounting body.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament, responsible for regulating the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India. The Annual Accounts of the ICAI provide a comprehensive overview of the Institute’s financial statements, activities, and achievements over the past year.
