The Institute of Company Secretaries India (ICSI) has notified an amendment to the Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982 wherein the institute has decided to reduce the annual subscription fees for members who are physically challenged. As per the new regulations physically challenged members will have to pay only half of the annual membership fees as determined by the council. If such a member is above the age of 70 years, then such members will have to pay the only 1/8th of the annual membership fee.
The amended regulation states:
“Provided also that a member, who is physically challenged, irrespective of his age, shall pay half of the annual membership fee on submission of disability certificate issued by the competent authority;
Provided also that if a member is physically challenged and is also of the age of seventy years or above, shall pay one-eighth of the annual membership fees on submission of a declaration and a disability certificate issued by the competent authority”.
