The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) extended the deadline for obtaining mandatory Continuing professional education (CPE) credits and payment of annual membership till July 31st 2023.
The release made it clear that the extension of time is granted taking into consideration the technical difficulties and critical maintenance activities at the portal of the Institute, the online services of the Institute viz. Membership Application, Certificate of Practice application, generation of Employee Company Secretary Identification Number (eCSin), Unique Document Identification Number (UDIN), payment of Annual Membership Fee, CPE updation, Registration to Specialised Courses, etc. were impacted and members were not able to access these services.
CPE credit is what you receive for completing Continuing Professional Education (CPE). Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) are required to earn a minimum amount of CPE credits to maintain an active license and remain in good standing with the board. CPE is important because it keeps you informed about what’s happening in the industry and helps you best serve your clients. If you want to maintain your designation and continue to perform at the highest level, you will take CPEs seriously and use them as an opportunity to learn and grow as a Certified Public Accountant.
Accordingly, the CPE Credits of the members were not being updated by the Institute and also members were not able to pay annual membership fee/ COP fee. As already informed by the Institute vide email dated June 23, 2023, these online services have been restored. The last date for obtaining mandatory CPE credits for the year 2022-23 and the payment of annual membership fee/ COP fee for the year 2023-24 was June 30, 2023.
To facilitate the members, it was informed that the last date for obtaining the mandatory CPE Credits for the year 2022-23 and payment of the annual membership fee/ COP fee for the year 2023-24 has been extended till July 31, 2023.
“Please note that CPE Credits obtained in the extended period by those members who have already completed their mandatory CPE Credits for the year April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 as per ICSI (Continuous Professional Education) Guidelines, 2019, shall be counted in the year April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024” the Release said.
