The Goods and Services Tax portal will not be available to the taxpayers today night, said the GSTN now.
“We shall be enhancing services on the GST portal on 31st August, 2018 10:00 PM onwards. GST Portal services will not be GST Portal services will not be available until 04:00 AM, 1st September, 2018. Inconvenience caused is regretted,” it said in a statement.
Earlier this week, the GST Portal was not available from 27th August 2018 (11:00 PM onwards) to 28th August (till 6:00 AM) due to a major disaster recovery drill of GST System.
The Goods and Service Tax laws were implemented in the country on 1st July 2017. Unlike the old tax regime, the new indirect tax law mandates the compulsory filing of returns through electronic mode. From the very first month of GST rollout, the technical glitches in the portal cause troubles to both taxpayers and professionals. Several times, the Government was compelled to extend the return filing due dates frequently as the system was not working properly.
