The Customs officers from Chennai has donated rupees 27 lakhs towards the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund to aid rescue efforts to the state that has been reeling under unprecedented torrential rains and floods since August 9.
“We the officers of the Customs Zone at Chermai share the pain and distress caused by the unprecedented floods that have ravaged Kerala. We are, however, determined to ensure that the affected citizens of Kerala are not alone as they go about reconstructing their lives,” a letter sent by the Officers said.
It was also said that the Customs one has also initiated steps for the speedy/duty free clearance of imported relief material intended for donation for relief and rehabilitation work for the flood affected people of Kerala.
