The income tax department on Monday night informed the taxpayers that it has received more than 3 crore income tax returns till 25th July. The last date for filing the income tax return is 31st July 2022.
As the taxpayers and tax practitioners are urging for a due date extension and relaxation, the department took its official twitter handle and said “More than 3 crore ITRs for AY 2022-23 have been filed on e-Filing portal till 25th July, 2022. The due date to file ITR for AY 2022-23 is 31st July, 2022. We urge you to file your ITR at the earliest, if not filed as yet. #FileNow!”
As there are only 4 more days remaining to file the income tax returns, the tax practitioners all over the country are frequently reporting technical glitches on the income tax e-filing portal and requested the Government to resolve the glitches at the earliest to make the compliance process smooth. However, on Friday, the Government clarified that there will not be any extension for the income tax return filing for the year 2022-23.
