The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will make history by presenting this 2024-25 full Budget before the Lok Sabha on 23 July, 2024. She will surpass the record created by the Former Finance Minister Moraji Deasai for presenting the 6 consecutive budgets in a row.
The Finance Minister is to present her 7th consecutive union budget and she is the only woman finance minister to hold this privilege unless it is replaced by someone in the future.
In the year of 1970, the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi presented the budget when then FM Moraji Desai resigned. Subsequent to the resignation, Smt. Gandhi earned the title of Finance Minister and the only women FM who presented the budget until Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman appointed.
Our present Finance Minister has a notable background in public service. She previously served as a Member of the National Commission for Women. In 2017, she made history by becoming the second woman to hold the position of Defence Minister.
She took on the role of Finance and Corporate Minister in 2019 and was reappointed as Finance Minister following the Modi Government’s third term victory in 2024. She has a Master of Arts degree in economics and M.Phil. from Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics at the Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College in Tiruchirapalli.
The maiden session of the parliament started on June 18th and ended on July 1st. Now, the parliament will have its monsoon session in the third week of July, where it expects the budget presentation for this financial year.
This Modi 3.0 expected to do some favours to the middle class taxpayers and also the most vulnerable people of the society. The Finance Minister had her pre-budget meetings with different departments and industry.
