Without this verification, the tax department will not process your ITR. Failure to verify in time results in the return being treated as unfiled, leading to consequences under the Income Tax Act, 1961. An unprocessed ITR also means you will not receive any due tax refunds and will be considered as not having filed your ITR.
The deadline to file your ITR for those not subject to an income tax audit is July 31, 2024, for FY 2023-24 (AY 2024-25).

Methods for Verifying Your Income Tax Return
The Income Tax Department offers several methods for verifying your ITR, including online and offline options:
1. OTP on Aadhaar-registered Mobile Number
Your PAN must be linked with Aadhaar.
2. EVC through Pre-validated Bank Account
Requires a pre-validated and EVC-enabled bank account.
3. EVC through Pre-validated Demat Account
Requires a pre-validated and EVC-enabled demat account.
4. EVC through ATM (Offline Method)
Available through ATMs of Axis Bank, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and State Bank of India.
5. Net Banking
Your PAN must be linked with your bank account, and the net banking account should be enabled as the preferred bank account.
6. Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
Requires a valid and active DSC and the ‘Emsigner’ utility installed and running on your computer.
Online ITR Verification Methods – Using the e-Filing ITR Portal
Using Login Option
1. Log in to the ITR Portal
Visit [ITR Portal](https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/), navigate to ‘e-File,’ select ‘Income Tax Returns,’ then ‘e-Verify Returns.’
2. Select the ITR to be Verified
Choose the verification method and click ‘Continue.’ A success message and Transaction ID will be displayed upon successful verification.
Without Logging into the ITR Portal
1. Access the e-Filing ITR Portal
Click on the ‘e-Verify Return’ button under quick links on the [ITR Portal](https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/).
2. Enter Details
Provide your PAN, assessment year, ITR acknowledgment number, and mobile number, then click ‘Continue.’
3. Verify with OTP
Validate using the OTP sent to your mobile number, select the verification method, and submit.
Offline Verification Method – By Sending ITR-V Form to CPC Bangalore
1. Download ITR-V Form
Log in to the e-filing portal, go to the ‘E-file’ tab, select ‘View Filed Returns,’ and download the receipt.
2. Send the Form
Print the acknowledgment, sign it, and send it via Speed Post to the following address:
