Dr. Tarundeep Kaur, Indian Revenue Services (IRS) yesterday has assumed the charge of Joint Commissioner of Income Tax (TDS Range), Ludhiana.
Dr. Kaur reportedly said the department had handed over a big responsibility to her as the TDS Range had a vast territorial jurisdiction, including Ludhiana and the entire state of Punjab as well as J&K.
The TDS Range also emerging as the biggest revenue collector of the region as last year’s budget collection was Rs 3,783 crore. She said with the recent amendments in the TDS provisions in the Income Tax Act 1961, the scope of TDS had been widened considerably and had implications for both private and public sector enterprises.
